It is reported that mortality rates of Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infection are higher than the HIV infection and
tuberculosis combined.
Discover new compounds (drugs) are very challenging for MRSA. In this context, Anti-MRSA Peptides
(AMRSAPs) and Anti-MRSA Essential Oils (AMRSAEOs) are the promising way
as new theraputics for MRSA. AMRSAMPs basically act by attacking the bacterial cell membrane resulting
in disruption of cell membrane integrity. AMRSAEOs basically binds to microbial cell
surfaces of MRSA, create a destabilizing monolayer that alters electrostatic potential and hydrophobicity,
leading to compromised membrane integrity and subsequent release of internal cellular components.
By keeping all this in our mind, we developed a dedicated mother database named The Anti-MRSA Resource, which is a
comprehensive & exhaustive resource of manually curated AMPs & EOs for
Clinical & Non-clinical MRSA. The resource contain data about the AMRSAMPs & AMRSAEOs, their specific target MRSA, compositional &
phusicochemical properties, etc.
Currently, the resource have two child database i.e., AMRSAPDB v1 (further devide into "AMRSAPDB for Clinical MRSA Strains" &
"AMRSAPDB for Non-Clinical MRSA Strain") and AMRSAEODB v1 (further devide into "AMRSAEODB for Clinical MRSA Strains" &
"AMRSAEODB for Non-Clinical MRSA Strain"). This database will help researchers or pharmaceutical
industries to retrive information about various AMRSAMPs and their details.
